May 3-4, 2014…Again this year, we are fully booked for this terrific annual live release derby! Tickets can be purchased at Merland park $15 for Juniors and $35 for Adult with complimentary Junior ticket. Thank you Kiwanis for posting a great article on the Merland Park Ice Fishing derby in this year’s magazine!
County Weekly News’s Bruce Bell came out to cover the derby as well as two students in the Media Program at Loyalist College.
Mother Nature couldnt dampen the spirit of the anglers during this year’s derby! This Blue Pike was caught on a Merland Park charter on August 15th. Such a rare find, this unique Blue Pike is said to have a rare genetic defect. We had heard of another one being caught & released in August 2010 which is exactly 3 years ago. We released the fish as well.
